An 18-member delegation of BSF, India led by Additional Director General BSF Utthan Kumar Bansal arrived here on Monday through JCP Wagah to attend the biannual meeting between Pakistan Rangers and BSF. Director General Pakistan Ranger (Punjab) Major General Muhammad Yaqub Khan received the delegation at Ranger Headquarters Lahore.
While at JCP Wagah the delegation was received by Brigadier Shafqat Nawaz Khan DDG, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab). In the four-day talks, Pakistan side is being led by DG Ranger (Punjab) Major General Muhammad Yaqub Khan along with DG Ranger (Sindh) Major General Liaquat Ali.
The meeting is held after every six months, as per agreed programme aimed at co-ordinating measures being taken by the two border guarding forces for effective border management duties. Matters pertaining to transborder smuggling, illegal border crossing, drug trafficking, repatriation of inadvertent crossers as well as Pakistani prisoners detained in Indian jails would come under discussion during the talks.
