National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has got accused Muhammad Farid and Muhammed Farooq, sons of Abdul Qadir Tawakkal, extradited to Pakistan through the US State Department. They were wanted by the NAB in a number of accountability references pertaining to corruption, fraud, forgery, misappropriation of funds and cheating the public at large.
The accused were involved in Kia Pride car scam along with their father, Abdul Qadir Tawakkal, in which more than 16,000 poor people were deprived of their hard earned cash through advance booking of the vehicle all over the country. After collecting more than Rs 800 million the accused failed to provide cars to their customers and fled to the US. The NAB initiated extradition proceedings against the absconding Tawakkal brothers in America and finally succeeded in bringing them Pakistan to face trial.
The accused were handed over by the US authorities to Pakistan. They were brought before the Administrative Judge of Accountability Court, NAB Sindh, Aley Maqbool Rizvi, who remanded them in judicial custody.
