Business Horizons is leading a 20 member business delegation to participate in India CHEM 2008 which is scheduled on 20-23 October 2008 in Mumbai. India AB over the world the chemical industry is a major contributor to the national economy, playing both direct and indirect role. In Pakistan while some segments of chemical industry have received due attention, others remain neglected. So for the investment in this field is estimated to be Rs 360 billion.
Import of chemical related products constitute 20% which is around US $2 billion of total imports. Thus there is vast potential for developing this sector through import substitution and self reliance. Pakistan has lessons to learn from its neighbour.
India was a net importer of chemicals in early 1990s, but has now become a net exporter due to reduction in Imports because of implementation of many large scale petrochemical plants like Reliance etc, and also because of tremendous growth of exports in sectors like bulk drugs and pharma, pesticides, dyes and intermediates. It is a matter of great satisfaction for Business Horizons Pakistan that leading business groups including Sitara Chemicals, International Chem Plast, Shafi-Reso, Tufail Chemicals, Calriant Pakistan. Al-Nazir Nippon Chemical Industries and many other leading business housed have shown interest and will be actively participating in INDIA CHEM 2008 in Mumbai, India.
Business Horizons will also be leading delegations and promotion participation in international exhibitions including carbon forum Asia, November 2008, Singapore, Glass Technology India, December 2008 and Asia PHARMACEUTICAL EXPO, December 2008, New Delhi.
