At this hour of need when country is facing challenges of economic crisis, government should pay heed to reduce the power tariff to give maximum relief to masses and address the law and order problems, said Senator Talha Mehmood, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior here on Saturday.
"Government should make quick decision to reduce the power tariff and initiate the projects to end the unwarranted load-shedding, Talha Mehmood said while talking to reporters. He lauded the government decision of recession of 40 percent in electricity bills, saying that now government should make sure that this decrease should be made a permanent feature.
Sub committee constituted to review the power tariff and submit its recommendation to make sure the quick implementation, Senator Talha demanded. He supported sufficient decrease in power tariff saying that this decrease will give load-shedding affected people relief and they will stop the violent protests being held all over country.
Talha stressed the need of unity and prudent policies to meet the challenges of law and order the country is facing at present. "We have to make better policies and implement them to resolve the problems people are facing", he added.
He called upon the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led government to work positively to give relief to masses and resolve their problems as soon as possible. "PPP has sacrificed a lot for the sake of democracy and it should play its role to lead country towards strong and stable democracy and minimise the problems of the people", he added.
