Anti-vehicles lifting staff has recovered 487 vehicles worth about Rs 200 million during the current year which include Suzuki Mehran, Toyota Corolla, Suzuki Cultus, Suzuki Khyber as well as other vehicles.
This was disclosed during a meeting presided over by Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Pervez Rathore, which considered various measures for checking theft of vehicles and their recovery. CCPO directed anti-vehicles lifting staff to expedite their action against the gangs involved in theft of vehicles besides a campaign should be launched against the persons involved in sale of stolen vehicles after their tempering.
He The CCPO said that closing of sale points of stolen vehicles could result in reduction of incidents of theft of vehicles. He said that a drive should also be launched for creation of awareness among people about protection of their vehicles as possibilities of theft of those vehicle increases, which are not properly parked or locked. He directed that as soon as the information regarding a stolen vehicle is aired though wireless control, all the police officials should have its particulars and they should remain vigilant for its recovery.
He said that he will personally observe that whether the police official present on duty has kept particulars of a stolen vehicle being announced on wireless control or neglected. He said that strict action would be taken against police officials found guilty of slackness. He further said that if police officials display sense of responsibility after broadcasting of information regarding theft of any vehicle from wireless control then a number of stolen vehicles could be recovered after a few minutes of their theft.
He said that the recovered vehicles should immediately be restored to their owners and if any official created hurdles or displayed any negligence, legal action would be taken against him. He said that tracker system has greatly helped in checking lifting of vehicles and owners of the vehicles should install this tracker system in their vehicles to save their costly vehicles.
He lauded the efforts of anti-car lifting staff and said that it should not only continue its efforts but a strategy should also be adopted to arrest the car lifters red handed.
