Punjab agriculture department has evolved a special program to increase per acre yield and enhance the acreage of wheat crop in the province under the 'Grow More Wheat' drive in the province.
Official sources on Sunday told APP here that the program will focus on bringing untilled state land under wheat crop, while under another program the latest wheat production techniques will be introduced to growers. In addition to this "farmers hubs" will also be established at union council level to impart modern agricultural techniques to the farmers.
In Sialkot, agriculture department has finalised necessary arrangements to extend guidance and assistance to wheat growers in 1,431 villages of the district.
Training will also be imparted to growers about the most effective utilisation of pesticides, fertilisers, natural cultivation techniques and seeds. As many as 150 "Farmer Hubs" will be established at union council level in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district, and each union council will have six hubs where weekly training meetings will be held. The agriculture department has constituted 45 teams to cover 1,431 villages of Sialkot district.
