Federal Minister for Housing and Works Rahmatullah Kakar on Monday said the government was making all-out efforts to develop the housing sector and taking concrete steps in this regard. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Steering Committee on Housing Sector here.
The minister said that for the first time in the history of the country the housing sector was attracting unprecedented local and foreign investment. He said that Prime Minister's 'Houses For All' scheme would provide sheltering to one million people annually thus mitigating the accommodation problem of eight million people across the country.
He said that participation of the world class companies in the construction of the houses/flats in the country would go a long way besides benefiting the masses with the hi-tech designing and modern expertise being used by these countries.
The minister commended the invaluable contribution of Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) for working round-the-clock in carrying out the national task of providing housing units to poor, needy, government servants and general public on affordable cost.
The meeting reviewed the updated performance of the housing sector and put forth various recommendations in this regard. Secretary Housing and Works Sami-ul-Haq Khilji and senior officials of PHA, PWD and FGEHF also attended the meeting.
