The Jammu Martyrs day was observed throughout Sialkot and Narowal districts by the refugees from the occupied Jammu and Kashmir, settled in both the districts, on Thursday.
On this occasion they congratulated newly elected American President Mr Barack Obama on winning presidential election and expressed the hope that the new government of United States of America would take appropriate steps for resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiris.
The daylong programmes started with special prayers for the solidarity, unity and prosperity of the country as well as for the early liberation of occupied valley. On this occasion special prayers and Quran Khawani for the martyrs were offered at various places in both the districts.
It may be recalled that the Hindu and Sikh militants killed a large number of Muslim women, children, men and girls when they were on their way to newly-created Pakistan in 1947. They also abducted a large number of women and young girls during the migration out of whom many remain untracked till today.
The elderly Kashmiris and leaders of political parities of Jammu and Kashmir, while commemorating the Jammu martyrs of 1947 highlighted the high-handedness of Hindu and Sikh militants and paid rich tributes to the martyrs.
Addressing the meetings, various leaders and refugees from occupied Jammu and Kashmir settled in Sialkot and Narowal districts, urged upon all peace-loving nations and United Nations that they should take immediate step for stopping the excessive barbarism and killing of innocent Kashmiris in held valley.
They said that world leaders had focused their attention on the burning Kashmir issue but Indian troops have intensified the killing of innocent Kashmiris deliberately. They said that Pakistan government had adopted flexible attitude for fruitful and durable outcome of their differences through dialogue.
On the other hand Indian government was using the old tactics for blocking any resolution of more than half-century-old Kashmir dispute according to aspirations of Kashmiris and in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
Speaking on the occasion, the District President All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Hafiz Muhammad Raza said that Kashmiris have initiated the liberation movement in held Kashmir, with the aim of liberating their motherland from the Indian yoke. The liberation movement had now reached at its peak and it could not be crushed by dint of any force and barbarism. He urged upon the Indian government to take immediate steps for stopping large-scale killing of innocent Kashmiris struggling for liberation of the motherland.
Another prominent Kashmiri leader of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Ejaz Ahmad Sheikh speaking on the occasion also urged upon the Indian Prime Minister to announce the stoppage of growing homicide of innocent Kashmiris in held state.
Speaking on the occasion senior leader of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Sheik Muhammad Saleem also condemned the brutal activities of Indian forces and urged upon the peace loving nations that they should come forward and play their instrumental role in stopping the genocide of innocent Kashmiris in held valley.
