A spokesman of Health Department Punjab has said that it was not confirmed that 24-year girl, Imrana of National Town Sanda died due to dengue fever. According to the initial inquiry, the spokesman said that Imrana was brought to a private clinic due to sudden illness at home.
She was treated in a private clinic and a drip was infused to her. As soon as drip was infused, the condition of Imrana became serious and the doctor of private clinic directed the relatives to rush their patient to the hospital, the spokesman added.
According to the death certificate issued by the Services Hospital Lahore, when Imrana reached the hospital she had already expired. However, DG Health Punjab has constituted two-member inquiry committee comprising of Director CDC Dr Zia-ur-Rehman and Dr Amjad Jaffri DOH Lahore to investigate the incident. Moreover, the Punjab Health Department has authorised all the EDO (Health), DO (Health) and District Drug Inspectors to act as "Inspectors" in terms of Rule 2 (F) framed under "The Punjab Transfusion of Safe Blood Ordinance, 1999 for the effective monitoring of the private sector and public sector Blood Banks with immediate effect.
