A 3-day international conference on Mysticism in Pakistan will be held in the 2nd half of December 2008. This was expressed by Fakhar Zaman, Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) while giving a briefing about Academy's future plan.
He said that A National Conference of Writers will also be held in December 2008 wherein awards for 2007 will be distributed to the recipients in addition to deliberations for the promotion of literary languages and culture under the auspices of the Pakistan Academy of Letters in collaboration with literary and cultural bodies.
He said that a literary TV channel and FM radio will be established in the building of the Pakistan Academy of Letters. An audio video Library will also be established. He said that linkages will be established with India, Turkey, Japan, Russia, Poland, Germany, Egypt, Malaysia, England, Central Asian countries, where Pakistani literature is being taught.
He said that compilation of poems on Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) in all languages of Pakistan will be published and released on her Shahaadat Day December 27.
He said that Pakistan Academy of Letters is publishing a series of Makers in Urdu language only. Similar series will be started in case of all Pakistani languages along with eminent writers of major languages of the world. He said that during International Conference of 1995 books titled "Mystic Poets," of the United Nation and Persian will be re-produced.
He said that Pakistan Academy of Letters will institute yearly Award of Rs 100,000 on the best books written on Sufi Poets like Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
In case of accident of sudden death one time financial assistance is being raised from Rs 25,000 to Rs 100,000 for the deserving writers and bereaved families. He said that Pakistan Academy of Letters will arrange an International Book Exhibition at its premises annual1y. More writers will be brought under the coverage of Insurance with the extended privilege of illness allowance.
