Political parties here have congratulated US people for electing a black President for the first time in their history. PML-N vice president Javed Hashmi, congratulating the Barrack Obama on his landslide victory, expressed hope that under Obama the United States would abandon the policy of supporting military dictators, like the former president Pervez Musharraf.
"We are confident that under your wise and sagacious leadership, Pakistan's relationship with the United States will be established as a genuine partnership between two peoples who treasure freedom, passionately believe in democracy and espouse partnership and engagement among all nations,' he said. He warned that if Obama did not review the aggressive policies of outgoing president George Bush, "peace in Pakistan and Afghanistan would remain a dream".
Imdad Qazi, Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) central secretariat member, has congratulated US people for electing black president for the first time. He said: "They have used the little option which was available to them. They have rejected imperialist war, racial policies and policy of creating conflicts between different civilisations. They should, however, struggle to change the imperialist role of their state."
He said that the victory of Obama should not be misunderstood. "Obama is also the representative of US capitalists in America. They will continue the campaign of dominating the world politically and economically under his leadership. The difference might be in priorities. Bush administration and Neocons used war as first strategy, while for Obama administration it will be last option. The anti-imperialist forces have to change their strategies in the changed scenario."
