Addressing a delegation of small traders' welfare association, he said, Saudi leadership has also pledged to support Islamabad at 'Friends of Pakistan' forum, which is expected to meet at Abu Dhabi later this month.
Awan said the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Saudi Arab proved successful and would have far-reaching effects. Both the countries have agreed to expand the volume of bilateral trade besides increasing the import of Pakistani manpower to the kingdom, he added.
Saudi Arab is keen to invest in various projects in Pakistan to start a new era of development and prosperity in the country, he added. The delegation informed the minister about the problems being faced by them and asked for an immediate support. Punjab Provincial Minister for Labour, Mohammad Ashraf Khan Sohna was also present.
Awan said that the government is aware of the problems being faced by common man and is working on war footing to overcome the economic problems and price-hike. The government believes in supremacy of the parliament, independence of judiciary and rule of law, he said and added that all the issues would be discussed in the parliament. He said expansion of cabinet has been made in the interest of the people so that quick relief could be provided to the common man. He added that more ministers would be inducted in the federal cabinet.
Meanwhile, addressing a delegation of journalists who called on him, he said the government would make special arrangements for journalists while removing all snags for better performance of the media.
The minister was informed about the problems being faced by the media especially owing to security arrangements due to which media cannot reach secretariat to perform their duties.
