Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held flag hoisting ceremony to mark the silver jubilee of diplomatic ties with the Republic of Korea here on Friday. The ceremony took place at convention centre, where Korean Ambassador Shin Un was the chief guest, while CDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Khan and Additional Secretary, Asia Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Masood Khalid also participated.
Shin Un hoisted the Korean flag, while Tariq Mehmood hoisted Pakistani flag. National anthems of both the countries were also played. Tariq Mehmood said he was felt proud of hosting celebrations of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relationship with the Republic of Korea (South Korea). He said the seed of friendship sown on November 7, 1983 had grown into a strong and vibrant relationship. He said that presence of notable Korean companies, like Daewoo, LG, Hyundai and others, was an example of the true friendship between the two Asian countries.
He said Korean companies were playing pivotal role in Pakistan's industrial development and reduction in unemployment. Korean envoy Shin Un, speaking on the occasion, thanked the CDA and Foreign Ministry for making the silver jubilee celebrations memorable. He said Korea had established friendly relations with Pakistan in various areas, including culture, trade and politics.
He said further development in relations between the two countries could become a model of mutual co-operation, and added Seoul metropolitan government would share its experiences with the CDA for strengthening its capabilities to manage and operate the city. Masood Khalid, congratulated people of both the countries. He said strong diplomatic ties between Korea and Pakistan was playing vital role in development and economic stability of both the countries.
