The Commuters of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have urged the concerned to introduce system of fix rates for cab drivers and revive meter system to control fleecing of the public by the drivers. The Cab drivers in federal capital and Rawalpindi fleecing commuters by charging on their sweet will, as no system of charges by the authorities was available.
A frequent traveller Aziz Khan at Karachi Company bus stop talking to APP said he daily uses cab for reaching his office being out of way. He complained that most of the drivers are overcharging in absence of proper fixed fare system in the capital. "If there is any fare system for the cab drivers they are not properly implementing it", he regretted.
He demanded of the authorities to take notice and introduce a alternative system for them. A female passenger Anisa Bibi at PIMS stop said that most of the female use cabs but drivers demand fare on their own will and fleece female commuters.
Cab driver Fazal Hussain claimed that they provide the best service to the commuters but due to rise in fuel prices they are compelled to charge more. He said if authorities introduce fixed fare list they will appreciate the move and comply with it.
