Last week's sentiment depressed continued on Lahore Stock Exchange on Monday and the index remained unchanged amid marginaly improved trading turnover. The LSE-25 index witnessed no change and stayed glued to its last week closing level of 2825.36.
However, transaction volume showed some improvement with trading of 8,000 shares as compared to 1,500 shares traded of last Friday. The market opened on a negative note and, because of lack of buying support, stayed in red zone throughout the day.
There was news in the market that 'floor' might be removed on November 27 and a special trading session could take place before removal to facilitate disposal of shares stuck up in the CFS, a market expert said, and added the investors were still reluctant to believe in any news. He said the situation could become worse if appropriate measures were not taken to bring the market out of the present crisis.
Out of 78 active issues, Southern Electric Power closed in minus column with marginal loss of five paisa. Other 77 companies ended at their previous levels. Southern Electric Power recorded transaction of 7,000 shares followed by Genertech Pakistan with 1,000 shares.
