On the request of Punjab Health Department, Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP) and Pakistan Paediatric Association (PPA) have decided to fully participate in three-day national anti-polio campaign being run from November 24 to 26 in Punjab.
This was stated by Director General Health Services Punjab, Dr Muhammad Aslam while presiding over a meeting here on Thursday. He said that the President PAFP Dr Aftab Iqbal Sheikh and General Secretary PPA Dr Munir Akhtar Saleemi has written letters to the members of their associations urging them to fully participation in this national campaign.
He said during the immunisation campaign polio vaccine along with vitamin A supplementation would be administered to the children up to five years of age. DG Health further said that as per directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, National Immunisation Campaign would be conducted enthusiastically to eradicate polio from our country.
DG Health said that all the arrangements have been completed for this campaign and 38 thousands mobile teams have been constituted for administering anti-polio drops. He said that special monitoring teams have also been constituted to keep an eye on the working of the mobile teams. He further said that polio vaccination facility has also been provided in all the hospitals and medical centres. He made it clear that no slackness will be tolerated in anti-polio campaign.
