Inter Collegiate Bilingual Declamation Contest was held at Defence Authority Degree College for Women Ph-VII (Extn) here today. Students of leading colleges and universities of the metropolis participated in the event. Brigadier Iftikhar Arshad Khan (Retd), Dir Education DHA was the chief guest of the function.
Brigadier Iftikhar (Retd) said that the young generation constituted hope and pride of the country. He reiterated that dedication and hard work were the cornerstone of success in life. He urged the students to work with enthusiasm in all fields of their activities.
Earlier the Principal, Dr Tayyaba Mamoon in her welcome address said that declamation contests provided an excellent opportunity for students to whet their public speaking skills and to develop their expression as well as breadth of knowledge on varied subjects. In the Urdu declamation contest, Muhammad Saad of Naval Academy stood first, Mudassir Khubaid of Defence Authority College got the second position and Lieutenant Umair Umar Khan of Naval Academy was declared third.
In the English declamation contest, Sukena Shah of Sindh Medical College got the first position, Sonia Javed of Karachi University was declared second and Amana Akbar of Sindh Medical College secured the third position. The overall trophy was clinched by Sind Medical College. Judges for the contest included Air Cdre Khayyam Durani (Retd), Colonel Muhammad Ashraf (Retd), Ms Munira Nadeem and Ms Mehwish Ijaz. The programme organisers were Ms Tayyaba Khalil and Ms Rubina Sarwar.-PR
