Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Tariq Mehmood has said that construction work on 8,000 apartments in I-15 sector will start during next three months. Talking to PTV, he hoped that 8,000 new housing units would be ready for accommodation in the capital during next one-and-a-half years.
Possession of about 5,000 plots in I-15 sector will soon be handed over to owners for construction of their houses. The chairman said reconstruction of D-12 and E-12 sectors would start soon as new agreement had been signed with a contractor for development of those two sectors.
He said CDA would hand-over plots to owners in D-12 by June 2009 to construct their dream houses who had been waiting for the last 20 years for the possession of plots. Capacity of the existing tub-wells would be improved, six small dams would be constructed and a pipeline of water would also be brought from Ghazi Brotha dam to meet water requirements of people of the federal capital, he said. The chairman said pipeline from Ghazi would meet water requirements of twin cities for next 50 years.
All embassies working in the capital would be shifted to the diplomatic area during next one-and-a-half years, he said, adding, all facilities like shopping mall, gym, playing areas and mini golf club would be provided in the diplomatic area.
