A resolution presented by MPA Sh Allaudin, asking the federal government to ensure at least two per cent above annual inflation rate profit to the people having their savings in the banks, was accepted by Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.
Punjab Law Minister, Rana Sana Ullah, dilating on the resolution said that the importance of the subject was undeniable and as the matter was relevant to federal government and State Bank of Pakistan, it would be referred to the pertinent authorities.
Moreover, in the Assembly the Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah did not oppose a resolution on 'House Requisition' in the first stage to Civil Secretariat, Lahore High Courts and Punjab Assembly employees said that the provincial government was already working on a uniformity policy and would request the mover to bring in uniformity points in this regard.
A resolution by MPA, Uzma Zahid Bokhari, asking for mandatory Thalassaemia test prior to marriage, could not be carried out, as the mover was not present in the House on the occasion.
The session which was a 'Private Member's Day' with disposition of 'The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, carried the Motion moved by a number of opposition legislators, 'The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2008 and the Chair referred the matter to Special Committee.
Two more bills 'The Punjab Irrigation & Drainage Authority (Amendment) Bill 2008 and 'The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Privileges (Amendment) Bill 2008' were referred to committees by the Chair.
Punjab Law Minister termed the referring of three bills and acceptance of their motions as the change evident because of ushering of a truly democratic era, stating that in previous eight years this example was not witnessed.
Earlier, Iqbal Chunnar Minister replying to a query in the question stated that tenders were floated for purchasing of animals through Public Relations Department in the province. On a query, Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghaffor informed that provincial government was getting around Rs 510 million from cutting of forests in the province. The minister told that after the introduction of bus services in private sector, Tourism Development Corporation (TDCP) had ceased its bus service operations. He disclosed that on 16.39 lakh acres forests existed in the province.
A number of Privilege motions, which were tabled in the House, two were kept in pending while other two were disposed off. The House was adjourned for 10:00 am Wednesday later by the Chair Rana Mushood later.
