President Asif Ali Zardari has accepted Iranian president's invitation to visit Iran and final date for the visit will be announced soon. The Iranian deputy foreign minister, Mohammad Mehdi Akhundzadeh on Saturday delivered a letter from Iranian President Dr Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, inviting the president to visit Iran.
The President and Iranian deputy foreign minister discussed the matters of mutual interest and agreed to enhance the co-operation between the two countries. Zardari discussed with Akhundzadeh ways and means to qualitatively strengthen bilateral relations with Iran. Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Mashallah Shakri was also present.
Earlier, Akhundzadeh also called on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan and had useful discussions on global, regional and key bilateral issues of mutual interest. The Pakistani leadership assured the visiting dignitary of vigorous efforts being made for the safe and early recovery of the kidnapped Iranian envoy.
