Favourable judgement 'offer' to Nawaz: Raja Abdul Rehman denies his alleged involvement
Former Deputy Attorney General (DAG) of Pakistan Raja Abdul Rehman on Thursday denied having any contact with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif offering him a favourable decision in his disqualification case pending in Supreme Court.
Talking to reporters in Supreme Court, he termed allegations levelled against him as baseless, saying that he had noting to do with power and politics. "I am purely a professional lawyer and not a messenger', he maintained. Rehman said that former premier Nawaz Sharif had said that he (Nawaz) did not mention the name of the person, who approached him not to raise the scandal of Farah Hameed Dogar to get benefit in his disqualification case.
However, some media reports allegedly blamed me for playing role in conveying the message to Nawaz Sharif, which absolutely baseless, he stressed. He said that as a DAG he had challenged Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict disqualifying Nawaz Sharif in SC, adding as result the SC had stayed by-elections of NA-123 Lahore. Similarly, he said, he is representing Commodore Shamshad (Retd), former Chairman Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE). "I am a practicing lawyer, pursuing my cases and not performing any other duty", he asserted.
