The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday dismissed a petition of contract company seeking direction for the government not to terminate its contract of building Lahore-Kasur road and observed that there is no need to hear this petition as the petitioner, had moved to civil court for the appointment of an arbitrator.
The petitioner Echo International Limited, had sought direction against the government to be restrained from terminating its' contract. The company had secured a contract to build Lahore-Kasur road and cites several problems in completion of the task. The Punjab government had also blacklisted the company. Earlier LHC Justice Fazil-e-Miran Chohan had refused to hear the case after Punjab advocate general cast doubts about the conduct of the court.
Justice Chohan on December 5 had observed the advocate general raised questions about the conduct of the court and was trying to dictate it. Justice Chohan said he would not entertain the case anymore and send it to the office for placing it before another judge.
