President, Asif Ali Zardari has said that scouting is a unique organised endeavour that derives sustenance from innate human qualities of love, compassion and selfless service to mankind regardless of caste, creed, colour or national boundaries.
In a message on the commemoration day of the investiture ceremony of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as the first Chief Scout of Pakistan on December 22, 1947, President Zardari said scouting is a truly international movement, which not only inculcates positive values in youth, but also helps alleviating the sufferings of humankind.
'Quaid-e-Azam, the first Chief Scout of Pakistan, summed it up beautifully during his address to the Scouts in his investiture ceremony on December 22, said that scouting can play a vital role in forming the character of our youth, promoting their physical, mental and spiritual development and making them well-disciplined, useful and good citizens,' he added.
The President further said that the future of the country belongs to the youth. 'I, therefore, urge the youth to develop their physical and intellectual capacities and employ these capabilities in the service of our people, indeed of the mankind, as useful citizens. In doing so you will radiate love, harmony and brotherhood that are badly needed for peace and stability, he said.
Furthermore, 'My dear scouts, remember our motto for the year 2009 is Peace through Scouting. As you set out venturing on scouting and blaze a trail of peace and harmony, my patronage and love will always remain with Pakistan Boy Scouts Association. May the world become peaceful and secure through your endeavour in scouting,' he concluded.
