President Asif Ali Zardari has said that PPP is people's welfare party which is fighting for the rights of workers, farmers, students and downtrodden people since its inception. He was telephonically addressing the public meeting held under the auspices of Peoples Unity, the PIA's CBA at PIA Township on Tuesday night.
"The PPP government will give jobs to people, lead them to progress and alleviate poverty and illiteracy from the society", the President announced. He said whenever Pakistan wanted blood for its survival, the Bhutto family wrote a new chapter by sacrificing their lives for the cause of country and nation.
"The history of Pakistan is rich with the struggle and sacrifices by Bhutto family," he said and told the meeting that their party would always remain steadfast for the attainment of their rights.
"This party is the symbol of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. It is her party and Bhutto and BB will remain alive till this world existed." President Asif Zardari said the country today needed unity and cohesion much more than ever before.
He called upon the people to hold fast the rope of unity and be prepared for national stability and to counter the threats from outside. The PPP, he said, had always fought the war of survival of Pakistan and would continue to play its role for the progress and prosperity of the country with priority to the rights of workers and tillers.
He said the way the PPP workers led the people unity to triumph, was an example and the party was proud on it. "We salute the people and we speak about the rights of workers and tillers".
President Asif Zardari said that PPP came into power because of the sacrifice of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and now it was obligatory for us to pursue her programme and mission and transform country into a progressive and developed state.
He expressed the resolve to come up to every challenge under the obtaining situation and fulfil the promises made to people. Amidst sky renting slogans, the President declared that PPP was the party of Shuhada. "We are proud of our workers and will fulfil the dream of Shaheed Zulfikarr Ali Bhutto."
The President raised the slogan of "Jiay Bhutto" and said the first death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto would be observed with all respect on December 27. Addressing the meeting, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said, "today we are grieved - a grief which is not spanned on one day or one year but the whole of life."
He said Shaheed Mohtarma struggled for 30 years and PPP achieved success in every field and department because of her mission and programmes. He congratulated the office-bearers and members of Peoples Unity on their great win.
Qaim Ali Shah said that whenever there would be talk about struggle, there would be the name of Shaheed Z.A. Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He recalled that no government, which came to power during the last 13 years, ever spoke about poors, workers and farmers while PPP's Quaid and the Party always advocated the cause.
The Chief Minister said, "personalities like Shaheed Benazir Bhutto are born in centuries and it is our duty to remember her and go to present our tributes to her in Gardhi Khuda Bux on December 27 and make the pledge to carry forward her mission."
On the occasion he announced that Township's school would be upgraded to college level while road upto Pahalwan Goth would be constructed. He said Airhostess Hostel would be improved and named as "Qasr-e-Benazir". Earlier President PPP Karachi Division Faisal Raza Abidi and President Peoples Unity Aamir Shah also addressed.
