Pakistan and France have agreed to further enhance defence, economic and cultural relations between the two countries. This was agreed during Pakistan and France Annual Bilateral Consultations held in Paris, says a press release issued by the foreign office here on Friday.
Foreign Secretary, Salman Bashir represented Pakistani delegation, while the French side was led by French Secretary General Gerard Errera. Pakistan and European relationship was also discussed at the meeting and agreed to increase high level contacts. The thrust was on enhancement and up-gradation of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The talks provided an opportunity to the two countries to discuss a host of bilateral, regional and global issues and to chalk out a future roadmap for furthering ties. In their meeting, the two Secretaries also exchanged views on relations between Pakistan and India in the aftermath of the deplorable Mumbai attacks. France was appreciative of the steps Pakistan had taken to fight the menace of terrorism on its soil. France also welcomed Pakistan's positive approach to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.-PR
