High tributes were paid to sterling leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah at a meeting held here on Thursday to celebrate the 132nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan's UN Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon said that only a towering personality like that of the Quaid who was blessed with the virtues of integrity, courage and honesty could have achieved the impossible, a homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent.
"Mohammad Ali Jinnah was incorruptible, his leadership determined and inspiring, his vision futuristic and his intellect unmatched," he said. On his part, Jinnah, who was an eminent lawyer and jurist, made every effort to convince the Indian Congress to agree to Constitutional guarantees to safeguard and protect the interests of Muslims.
The congress leadership remained unmoved leaving him no choice but to launch a struggle for a separate homeland. After all, Ambassador Haroon said, a separate homeland was the only way for the Muslims could preserve and promote their spiritual, cultural, social and political life in consonance with their own ideology. "His profound and meaningful message of 'Unity, Faith and Discipline' should remain the guiding principle of the nation and passed on to the next generation," he said.
