Briton travels on sister's passport: British security lapses exposed

The British authorities are investigating how one UK citizen flew to Pakistan using his sister's passport before he was discovered by Pakistani officials and sent back. According to a report appearing in 'The Times', 26-year-old Kasim Raja from Moseley, Birmingham, travelled to Pakistan unknowingly on his sister's passport.
Following the incident, Birmingham Security at one of Britain's main airports was criticised as 'a total failure' after a man flew to Pakistan with his younger sister's passport. Raja passed three security checks unchallenged before boarding a Pakistan International Airlines flight to Islamabad.
It was only on arrival that the passport controls staff noticed the error and he was sent back to the UK. The businessman said he was staggered that no one had noticed that he was carrying his sister's passport, which he had picked up by mistake. He said, 'It's frightening. It is a total failure in security and I could have been anyone trying to escape the country.' The paper said Swissport, which handles check-in procedures for the airline at Birmingham, has promised to carry an investigation.
