Former governor Punjab Ghulam Mustafa Khar on Tuesday called for formation of national government, saying the ruling coalition has failed to serve the country. Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, the close aide of Z.A. Bhutto said that the government has failed to punish the murderers of Benazir Bhutto and restore the non-functional Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, as it had pledged to the nation.
He said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani has lesser powers than that of the Prime Minister under the former President Pervez Musharraf, even being a democratically elected prime minister. He alleged that due to President Asif Ali Zardari "despotic" stance PPP failed to win even a single seat in the recent bye-polls in Punjab.
With such an undemocratic attitude, it is no far that PPP will be washed out from the country, he added. Khar said that the Zardari government was not willing to restore the judiciary to its November 2, 2007 position, adding that the government's call to UN for probe into the Benazir Bhutto's murder case manifests its failure.
About the Chief of Sindh National Front Mumtaz Bhutto arrest, he said that it has been an unwise advice to Zardari from his clumsy advisors, which has further discredited the government. He said that the PPP would completely dwindle countrywide under the Zardari leadership, if he continued to ignore the struggling PPP workers. He claimed that the government's foreign policy as well as domestic one has failed.
