'The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believes that challenges confronted to the country can be addressed through restoration of 1973 Constitution in its original shape as per provisions of the Charter of Democracy (CoD) and with making the judiciary independent and the parliament sovereign.' Punjab Minister for Religious Affairs and Auqaf, Haji Ehsan-ud-Din Qureshi said.
'The CoD needs to be implemented in letter and spirit to cope with the challenges faced by the country,' he said. Qureshi also said that to ensure an independent judiciary and strengthen national institutions, due respect should be given especially to the decisions of the parliament. The PML-N will continue its efforts to restore the judiciary to its position of November 02, 2007, he added.
The Central Secretary General, PML-N Saudi Arabia, Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad Jutt said that despite passage of 62 years, it has not yet determined how to maintain a balance between the judiciary and the Parliament in the country. He urged the masses to demonstrate cohesiveness in their ranks and files, as the country is entangled with internal and external difficulties and any further political instability in the country could mar the country's stability.
Further, he was of the view that all the challenges faced by the country could only be addressed with the restoration of 1973's Constitution in its real spirit and with the establishment of sovereign judiciary and supreme parliament in the country. 'Without annulling the 17th amendment, the dreams of real parliamentary system and supreme Parliament cannot be realised,' he added.
