Chairperson Education Committee of Senate, Senator Razina Khan has said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a comprehensive planning has been made in the education sector, keeping in view ground reality. In addition to that result oriented steps have been taken for the uplift of quality education that is a landmark for other provinces.
This was expressed by her on Monday, while addressing the meeting of the committee to review developmental programme of school education department, Punjab. The meeting was attended by Senator Syed Javed Ali Shah, Senator Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Senator Dr Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, Senator Mrs Tahira Latif, Senator Liaqat Ali Bengalzai, Senator Amar Ahmad Khan, Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi, Senator Professor Sajid Mir and Senator S.M. Zafar.
Giving briefing about the School Education Department, Secretary Education Nadeem Ashraf said that Punjab government has allocated record financial resources for education sector and enhanced education budget upto 90 percent. Moreover, for capacity building of managerial staff of the department, special training course is being started with the collaboration of Government College University and in future participants of this course will be appointed on administrative posts.
He further stated that public private partnership is being promoted through Punjab Education Foundation. The Foundation has trained 67743 teachers of private schools and 11750 schools of private sector are being facilitated by fee support programme of the foundation.
With a view to fulfilling the shortage of academic staff 34 thousand educators are being recruited for government schools and this recruitment is being made in transparent manner. Secretary Education said that Directorate Staff Development has chalked out a three year training programme for school teachers.
