Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) organised a brainstorming lecture session on "Background of Recurring Economic Crises in Pakistan" addressed by Dr Kaiser Bengali, distinguished economist of Pakistan having deep insight on domestic and international economic affairs.
Dr Kaiser has headed Social Policy & Development Center Karachi and Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Islamabad. He is also associated with Applied Economics Research Centre, University of Karachi and currently teaching at SZABIST. Dr Bengali summarised the economic scenario of Pakistan since its inception. He highlighted that the negative trends and policies of past governments, which compelled the economy towards depression.
He informed that all positive growth transpired in the first three decades of Pakistan's birth and in the following three decades the economy remained in doldrums and whereby industry also failed to flourish. He emphasised that the economic crisis in Pakistan is due to negative course of actions of politicians and present government must review policies in consultation with the stakeholders.
Dr Bengali informed that he has planned to make a documentary about economy of Pakistan for that he needs support and assistant from KCCI, which President KCCI agreed. Former Presidents KCCI Tahir Khaliq and A.Q. Khalil also expressed their views about economic recession. Lecture session was attended by a huge gathering of KCCI members and dignitaries of Karachi.-PR
