The workers of Sui-Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) Friday celebrated the reinstatement of sacked employees, saying the decision will help arrest the growing unemployment in the country. The jubilant employees while celebrating the reinstatement danced to the beat of drum and distributed sweets out side press club here on Friday.
They thanked the PPP-led government in the centre for such a great step to reinstate the sacked employees. They were holding banners and placards inscribed with the words of thanks and appreciation to federal government decision. They also chanted slogans in favour of Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
Speaking on the occasion, Hasham Khan, president, action committee of SNGPL workers union said that federal government had fulfilled the promise made by Benazir Bhutto Shaheed with the employees regarding reinstatement of the sacked employees. He said that the late chairperson of PPP would be remembered forever by the employees.
Appreciating the decision of PPP government, he said that the government had won the hearts of the people and the families of all the sacked employees and they are grateful to the federal government. He said that the decision has proved that PPP was the only political party, which believed in the resolution of the problems of the people and generating employment opportunities in the country. He said that the reinstatement of more than 7700 sacked employees by the present government would be written with golden words.
The employees thanked President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and federal cabinet for taking this bold step in the interest of the poor and downtrodden people of the country. Meanwhile, the NWFP Minister for Revenue, Habibur Rehman Tanoli has also expressed his gratitude over the re-instatement of the sacked government employees. He said that PPP wants to provide service to the people.
He, in this respect pointed out that he himself had moved a summary to the Chief Minister NWFP, Amir Haider Khan Hoti for the reinstatement of government employees sacked on political/technical grounds and belonging to NWFP government. Mr Tanoli demanded of federal government to re-instate the sacked employees who hail from Frontier Province along-with all their arrears to earn their gratitude.
