According to the international parameters, from next financial year, Punjab would be allocated budget for health sector, said Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs. Addressing a function in Punjab Medical College (PMC) to inaugurate BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) classes, he said that Punjab government is committed to provide all basic healthcare facilities at the doorstep of people.
In this connection medicine and tests were already provided free to the patients in emergency wards of all government hospitals in this province. However, now this faculty has been extended to all indoor patients. He said that Punjab government would not only fulfil the current excess expenditure incurred on this facility but also allocate budget in according to the international standards from next year.
He said that government has also allowed 50 percent increase in the salary of house job doctors while more increase is expected from the next financial year. He also urged doctors to serve ailing humanity with a commitment. Government was not interested in banning private practice but doctor's behaviour with patients at their private clinics and government hospitals should be the same.
He appreciated the performance of girls and said no doubt they are getting admission on open merit in medical college but they should remain active throughout their life. "The patients would be the ultimate sufferers if they abandoned their profession after marriage," he remarked.
He said that people are more conscious of their rights and sometime they assert and protest for their rights in hospitals also. This attitude is not totally wrong and would help government, government functionaries and other concerned to improve their working. Doctors should also tolerate this attitude in greater national interest, he hoped.
Upon the demand of Principal PMC Dr Asghar Ali Randhawa, he said that chief minister would surely come to attend the annual convocation of PMC. Earlier, Principal PMC lauded the service of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah for the uplift of health sector in Faisalabad. Muhammad Saeed Iqbal, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Communication, Khawaja Muhammad Islam, Zafar Iqbal Nagra, Malik Muhammad Nawaz and Muhammad Shafique Gujjar MPA were also present during the function.
