Minister of State for Industries and Production, Dr Ayatullah Durrani has said that present government is working on a plan to develop industrial sector as this will strengthen economy of the country. He was speaking at a briefing meeting of State Engineering Corporation (SEC), on Tuesday in Islamabad.
He said import of modern technology is the need of hour for which state enterprises should work, they can arrange trainings and study programmes for our engineers in foreign countries as this step can help us in bringing the modern technology from developed countries. He said our young generation is talented and their training on proper line can bring a revolution in our industrial sector.
He said import of machineries and goods is not fruitful for our country. We should work for development of local industries for which government has already working. He asked the SEC should enhance their activities in development of local industries for this purpose government will provide full support to them. Minister asked the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) that they should prepare a plan to set up a local car industry in Pakistan as we have technology and talent so why we are depending on import of cars.
He said the deletion programme of Pak Suzuki Motor is very slow and so we are still depending on import of components. It should be enhanced and try to make 100 percent manufacturing in country, as our vendor industry is capable to do so, he added. Earlier, Chairman, State Engineering Corporation (SEC), General Zaheer Ahmed (Retd), presented a briefing about the working of SEC and said we are ready to accept challenges in development of industrial sector and we are trying to promote public private partnership and joint ventures in engineering sector.-PR
