Senior Minister, Raja Riaz Ahmad has said that a special project has been launched with an amount of Rs 360 million to improve the living conditions of the vulnerable strata in the districts of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan and Rawalpindi.
The project is aimed at improving the socio-economic condition by giving them necessary skill education and training them to improve their lifestyle by exploring new means of earnings. He was talking to a group of NGOs headed by Ayyaz Hussain who called on him at his office, here on Saturday. Raja Riaz, while talking about the reforms agenda, maintained that democracy ensures equal opportunities for the people and the government is giving special attention to the provision of necessary facilities to the common folk.
He told that a sum of Rs 40 million is being spent on the project called "Gehwara" in Lahore and Multan for providing boarding and lodging facilities to the destitute children. The NGOs sector should also lend a helping hand in the crusade for improving the living condition of the poor segment as social equality is the gist of the democracy, concluded Senior Minister.
