Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, DIG Siffat Ghaur on Thursday directed police personnel to shoot at sight any miscreants entering into the jurisdiction of the provincial metropolis with the intention to carry out terrorist activities.
Talking to a private television channel, CCPO said that the law enforcement agencies had been directed to shoot at sight the elements entering the city for carrying anti-social activities of kidnapping, terrorism or other activities. Atleast 9 militants had been killed in a shoot-out between security forces and militants in Bazidkhel on Wednesday. Three personnel of the security forces were also injured in the incident. The elders and religious leaders of the locality made pronouncements through the load speakers of the mosques that any miscreant be shot on seeing in the locality.
On the other hand, the residents of Bazidkhel village held a Jirga (meeting) and discussed the situation arising out of the bloody incident. Those who attended the jirga were included Deputy Speaker NWFP Assembly Khushdil Khan Advocate, Alamgir Khan Khalil and Saqibullah Khan Chamkani MPAs.
After the meeting while talking to media Khushdil Khan Advocate demanded of the Governor NWFP Owais Ahmad Ghani for taking strict action against Mangal Bagh, chief of banned Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) within a period of week. However, he did not announce the schedule and day of the proposed meeting of the delegations with the dignitaries of the provincial government.
"The Jirga participants vowed that they will not tolerate any kind of interference in their area by any militant or criminal group", said Mr Khan adding that they had taken weapons against terrorists and are fully aware how to defend themselves against the aggression of the miscreants.
They said that Khalil and Momand, two tribes living in the surrounding localities of the provincial metropolis, were united and have no differences. They said any one who will hoist black flag on their house to express their subservience to the banned organisation will be considered enemy of both tribes.
