All arrangements for 265th annual urs celebrations of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A) have been finalised. The Governor Sindh will inaugurate the urs celebrations by laying chaddar on the mazar, offering Fateha and performing other important activities on February 10, (Tuesday), while at the concluding ceremony on 12th February, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will be the chief guest.
He will also distribute Latif awards among best performers. This was stated by Secretary Provincial Culture Department Shams Jafrani while briefing the official media about the arrangements of the urs celebrations at Sindh Museum Hyderabad on Sunday. He said that three-day urs celebrations would commence from 10th February. The main events of the celebrations will include National Adabi Conference, Agro Industries Exhibition, Cattle Show, Malakhro, Sugharan-Ji-Katchery and musical concert. He further said that a new event "Sindhi Cultural Village" is also being introduced this year in which artisans of Sindh will be shown at their works.
The concept is based on introducing arts and handicrafts of Sindh on one hand and providing market facilities to the artisans on other hand. The folk artists will perform live in this village and traditional Sindhi food would also be made available for the visitors. During the National Adabi Conference on the second day of urs celebrations, scholars of other three provinces would also participate and read their papers on the life and message of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A).
He further informed that on the occasion of urs celebrations, six books would be launched including Shah-Jo-Risalo compiled by eminent scholar Dr N.A. Baloch. This Risalo is based on comparative study of 49 manuscript and 16 printed editions of Shah-Jo-Risalo, other books include melodies of Shah volume-IV "Sur Aasa", Bait-Na-Par Aayatoon, selected verses of Shah translated in Arabic.
