The Sindh Chief Secretary (CS), Fazul Rehman has assured the Nazim, City District Government Hyderabad (CDGH), Kanwar Naveed Jamil that funds will be released soon to complete the on-going development schemes in Hyderabad.
Addressing a high level meeting at the District Nazim's Secretariat on Wednesday, he said that necessary equipment and machinery would be provided for Disaster Management and to under construction Trauma Centre.
Earlier, Jamil briefed the CS about the ongoing development and told that Hyderabad Master Plan 2007-27 was being prepared to encompass the requirements up to the year 2027. He said the city government was preparing Geographical Information System (GIS) for the city that would be completed in May 2009 and the CDGH would be the first in Pakistan to reach that hallmark.
He said that the CDGH had initiated 1315 schemes and out of those, 924 had been completed, while 108 were near completion, 180 were in progress and 103 will be started with the cost of Rs 15129.74 million. According to the Master Plan, 9 flyovers, under passes and six bridges were to be completed and the purpose of those was to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city and to reduce the distance.
Further, he said that with the help of 126 sewerage schemes, it had become easier to dispose off sewerage water and drainage system had been improved a lot while two filter plants had been completed. Third plant would be completed in March and the fourth one would start working in June this year, he added.
'Hyderabad would be the second city in Pakistan after Islamabad, where all population would get pure drinking water,' he maintained. Hyderabad Nazim also said that 210 government schools had been changed into English medium schools to give quality education in public sector, while 80 more English medium schools would be established in current year.
He said 40 diabetic centres, eye hospital, 40 bedded children hospital with ICU facility and dialysis centre had been established, while 1600 hepatitis patients had been treated by the district government hospitals and more than one lac students of 1100 government schools would be vaccinated. Jamil further urged the provincial as well as federal governments to release funds to complete all on-going development schemes in Hyderabad .
The DCO Hyderabad, Aftab Ahmed Khatri, EDO Revenue, Barkat Rizvi other officers and UC Nazims were also present on the occasion. The CS during his visit to Hyderabad, inspected under construction fly over at Qasimabad and appreciated the services of the CDGH.
