The hands of a lifelong punter. Horse-racing is an important part of the Australian sports scene. It is the third most attended spectator sport after Australian Rules football and rugby league. Racing carries an appeal that crosses age and class barriers. It attracts both professional punters and those out to gamble just a few dollars.

Mark Evans and Jenny Evans are a Sydney based couple who work in the photographic industry for news CORP Australia. Their accolades include the Sydney Life Photography Prize, Australian Life Photography Prize, 1st Place (as a couple) in the World Press Photo Award and People’s Choice Award, Reportage Photo Festival (Sydney). They have covered major sporting events worldwide, including the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and Wimbledon. Together, they have worked on a series of feature stories for news CORP and when the clock stops, they do not switch off, in their spare time, they work together on personal photographic projects.
