A three-day workshop on "Art of Water Colour Painting" started here on Tuesday at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) for the art students, artists and art teachers of the twin cities. Renowned watercolour artist, Dr Ajaz Anwer is conducting the workshop while the artist has also exhibited an exhibition of watercolour paintings entitled "A tribute to old Lahore" at PNCA.
The participants briefed about the basic techniques of making transparent watercolour paintings and the focus of work was painting festivals, architectural heritage and traditions. Dr Ajaz Anwer, in his work, has showcased the traditions of old Lahore in the display, which is dedicated to the memory of Ajaz's teacher Sir Bernard Feilden (1919-2008).
The collection focuses architectural beauty, cityscapes, historical buildings, narrow streets culture and living style of the people of Lahore. The artist celebrates the artistic creativity in the depiction of the architectural heritage of the Lahore with the portrayal of some popular buildings. Basant Festival is depicting in some of his paintings that portray the colourful celebrations of the people of Lahore.
The most attractive paintings of the artist are titled as, "Speed and Fury", "Moti Lal Mandir", "Fruit Seller", "Basant Over Qilla Gujar Singh", "Mohallah Mohlian", and "Basant Collection". According to the artist, the city of Lahore is a typical third world city with a history of more than 2,000 years, with a big number of historical buildings of religious and residential type contributed by successive ruling dynasties.
