Optimisation of human resources (HR) will help stop the short sizing in corporate sector and give better results to industrial and manufacturing sector of the country. If people employed in corporate sector are well-trained and giving 100 per cent there will be no redundancy leading to off-load people. This was the consensus of the participants of 'First Human Resource Conference 2009' held at Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) on Tuesday.
Chief Executive Officer, ARL, Adil Khattak opened the conference while more than 52 representatives of corporate sector including Industries, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Academia, Banking, Engineering, health care and Foreign Mission took part in the conference. The participants of the conference were of the view that HR department has a strategic role in corporate sector and if it will work appropriately there will be no need of any right-sizing or lay-off of people.
Industries and manufacturing sectors must keep in view the administrative expenditures and open the employment canvas according to this expenditure. Speaking on the occasion, ARL CEO Adil Khattak said, "The current international economic crisis confronts us with a daunting challenge calling for creative and out of box solutions. World has transforming the organisational functioning to face the emerging new challenges".
Acquisition and maintenance of a highly motivated workforce continuously delivering optimum performance in a supportive environment is the focal point of today's organisational leaders, Khattak asserted. Considering the prevailing socio-techno-eco-environmental challenges being faced by the private as well as public sector organisations, ARL realised the need for a platform where HR professionals and experts could share their ideas, experiences, and indigenous solutions to the common people issues, Khattak maintained.
He highlighted the importance the ARL Management gives to its Human Resources. "We consider human resources our prime resource". While acquiring the latest state of the art facilities, the ARL has never been oblivious to the human factor and has been in the forefront to discharge its obligations, he added. The participants of the conference called it a big initiative of ARL saying that this conference had been organised decades back. But it is not too late, they said, adding that there is dire need to make this conference a regular feature.
