Senior most deposed Judge of the Lahore High Court Khawaja Muhammad Sharif has said any political party shirking taking part in the lawyers long march and dharna will be 'finished' for the fact as people voted them to power only for the restoration of independent judiciary. And lawyers are waging Jihad-e-Akbar as they don't have any personal but their struggle is just is for the rule of law and the public.
Addressing as chief guest at the launching of "Chief Terey Janisar" authored by Malik Mansaf Ali Awan at the Lahore High Court Bar here Tuesday, Justice Sharif highly commended lawyers' commitment with the cause of independent judiciary and said, no faltering has come to their resolve and efforts despite every odd coming to their way.
He said if the rulers did not listen to them and take a right direction, time is not far away when they (the rulers) would lose their power. He said lawyers were committed to launch long march and stage dharna in Islamabad no matter even if 'section 288 instead of section 144' is imposed in the federal capital. He said dharna would take place at all costs and would be successful. Justice Khawaja Sharif said deposed judges are highly indebted to lawyers for which they would owe until their generations.
He said a judge is one whom public accept him as such and today the situation is, one who claims himself to be CJ cannot go to any Bar and those who is out of the office are so much endear to the masses that they run with his car for miles without any fatigue. He said lawyers are doing jihad-e-Akbar as they don't have any personal interest in their struggle and what they are doing is for the rule of law and the public.
The deposed judge criticised the present government for breaking promises on the judges' restoration and said, by that it had lost credibility at home and abroad. He said opportunists and self-seekers are in the fore in the present era of PPP and if the situation persisted, not much time would be left with the government. He said lawyers' movement enabled the exiled leaders to come back, ensured elections and threw Musharraf out of the office and still they were determined to achieve the goal defeating any challenge.
Lahore High court Bar President, Anwar Kamal, former President of the Bar Hafiz Abdul Rahman Ansari and Ahmad Awais, the author of the book, Wali Muhammad Khan and other also spoke on the occasion.
