Chief Secretary, Punjab, Javed Mehmud said that on the directions of Chief Minister, Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, as many as 87 Danish schools for boys and girls were being established by the provincial government in the selected remote areas under Danish School System (DSS) for imparting quality education to the students.
He further said that provincial government had released funds of Rs 47.7 billion in the first phase to the Board of Governors (BoG) of DSS, which had been constituted under the chairmanship of respective DCOs. Chief Secretary, Punjab, disclosed this during inspection of the sites allocated for the schools at Chak Bahadar near Chiniot Sargodha road.
Divisional Commissioner, Zahid Saeed, briefed the Chief Secretary about the project of Danish Schools. Secretary I & C Umer Rasul, DCO Jhang Asad Islam Mahni and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion.
Rs 800 million fund has been allocated for the establishment of 8 Danish schools (four for boys and four for girls) in four tehsils, including Jhang, Chiniot, Shorkot and Ahmadpur Sial in District Jhang, he added. Chief Secretary directed the Commissioner and DCO Jhang to start construction work, recruitment of staff, tree planting, analysis of subsoil water, land levelling, construction of boundary walls, gate and provision of Sui Gas and other basic amenities for these institutions.
He said that the directions of the Chief Minister, Punjab, the project included providing residential and playing facilities and provision of books free of cost to the low income groups as a social safety net with the special focus on targeting poorest segments of the society.
He said DSS was an extra-ordinary revolutionary step in education sector and milestone, which will provide advance and quality education to the new generation of the country. Moreover, he said patriotic, committed and high visionary personalities are being included in the autonomous Board of Governors besides keeping in view the high standard of the merit for the recruitment of the principals and other teaching and administrative staff.
