Addressing the participants of the rally in front of National Press Club here, PTI activists said that they will fully support the lawyers during the long march and continue their struggle till the restoration of the chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary.
They said that PTI is the first political party which has started campaign for making the long march a success. All other political parties are still in a state of confusion, whether to participate in the sit-in or not? PTI activists appealed the people to come out of their houses and support the long march till the restoration of the chief justice, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary.
Sharing the details of the campaign they said that on March 7 there will be a token sit-in at Abpara chowk. Then after 12 Rabiulawal, PTI teams will start 'Long march Awareness Camps' in their respective regions. These camps will provide information to the masses about the objectives of Long March.
They said that PTI is fully supporting the restoration of Chief justice, Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. They said that March 16 will be an important day in the history of the country when the whole nation will gather at the Shahra-e-Dastoor and show their full support to the struggle for the restoration of CJ. We are hopeful that this long march will close the doors of dictatorship and will be a positive step towards strengthening democracy in the country.
They said that the reason behind starting the campaign from outside the National Press Club was to express solidarity journalists' community and the bereaved family of the slain journalist Musa Khan Khel.
On the other hand most of the civil society organisations are also upbeat to participate in the long march and make it successful. Talking to Business Recorder, Iqbal Haider Secretary General of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) said that they are extending full support to the lawyers for making the proposed long march and sit in plan a success.
He said HRCP has been supporting the lawyers from the day one and would be with the movement till its logical end. He said that HRCP would participate in the long march though the lawyers have not contacted the HRCP yet. "There is no need of contact or invitation for any right cause as we feel it is responsibility of each and every citizen", he maintained.
He was fully optimistic that the sacked judges would be reinstated and judiciary would be independent in the country. To a question about the delaying tactics of the government in reinstatement of the deposed judges, the HRCP Secretary General without taking name remarked that some people enjoy when they are blamed and defamed. He also supported the deal made with the Taliban in Swat, saying that Human Rights were being violated in the restive area and the deal might bring peace and stability to the area.
