The Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (Site) Limited has issued show cause notices to around 114 plot holders in Site industrial area as their allotment and regularisation has been found illegal. According to industrialists the Site Limited in its show cause notices mentioned that allotment as well as regularisation of plots are found unlawful in the light of order passed by High Court of Sindh at Karachi in Suit No 1094 of 2004.
Talking to Business Recorder Former President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Majyd Aziz said that plots were allotted around 30 to 40 years ago and industrial units were established long ago and since then operating smoothly providing employment to thousands of people.
He demand that a survey of all industrial units established in Site industrial area should be conducted to accertain authenticity of allotment and regularisation papers of plots irrespective of multi nationals' units. Majority of units received notices are established beside sewerage drainage system in site industrial area. He said that the plots were allotted to respective plot holders after completion of all the formalities/procedures set up by the Site Limited for allotment of the plots.
Meanwhile the chairman, site Association of Industry (Sai), M.A. Jabbar in a circular has advised all those industrialists who have received the notices to contact the association, which is the only recognised body in the Site area and is engaged in safeguarding their interest since 1958.
He advised them to send complete case supported by documents for study and formulating a strategy as how its repercussions can be averted and how the plot holders can get relief from unjustified treatment being meted to them by the Site Limited.
