A member of the provincial executive committee of the PPP, Ameer Nawaz Comrade said on Monday that violence and agitation by PML-N is completely against the spirit of democracy as these tactics would only strengthen non-democratic forces and weaken democracy.
He said the appointment of LHC judges by President Asif Ali Zardari was on merit, saying it would go a long way in establishing complete rule of law in the country. Ameer Nawaz condemned the desecration of Benazir Bhutto monument at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi, the venue of her assassination.
He urged the Sharif brothers to accept the Supreme Court verdict and nominate any other person of their party for the chief minister's slot. In a statement, he appreciated the appointment of Habibullah Shakir advocate as a judge of the Lahore High Court and termed it a highly laudable step.
