Lawyers Wednesday vowed to continue their struggle till reinstatement of the deposed judges led by Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of steering committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association held in Rawalpindi with its President Ali Ahmed Kurd in the chair.
The meeting was also attended by lawyers' leaders Aitzaz Ahsan, Hamid Khan and members of Bar Associations of all the four provinces. Later, addressing a press conference, Ali Ahmed Kurd said that lawyers would continue their struggle till its logical end, and would not leave their movement inconclusive as it started two years ago against former President Pervez Musharraf, who sacked the then Chief Justice of Supreme Court Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
It was decided at the meeting that the movement would continue till reinstatement of the sacked Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. Kurd was of the view that the planned long march and sit-in would be peaceful and all the participants would follow the code of conduct, set by the lawyers. Announcing the schedule, he said that lawyers' long march would start from March 11 and on the first day, political leaders, workers and civil society activist would take peaceful motor-bike rallies across the country.
He appreciated the role of print and electronic media in the lawyers' movement during last two years and expected similar co-operation in the long march. Kurd strongly condemned the attack on Sri Lankan team in Lahore, terming it a cowardly act.
