In an important development, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Secretary Information Tariq Azeem conveyed an "important message" of party President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief, as he called on Nawaz Sharif at his residence here on Friday. Azeem remained with him for some time. Sources said the meeting may lead to a meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in near future.
The PML-N sources confided to the Business Recorder that Azeem conveyed well wishes of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He further told Nawaz Sharif that the PML-Q has never been supportive to the governors rule in Punjab.
Further, he said the PML-Q was interested in having alliance with the PML-N in the larger national interest. The PMLQs role has become important in ongoing confrontation between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N after removal of Shehbaz Sharif as Chief Minister Punjab by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Earlier, the PMLQ had also kept itself relevant to the Senate elections and it was able to secure a seat for Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. However, an opposition from the PML-N to the nomination of PMLQ secretary general Mushahid Hussain on technocrat seat resulted into withdrawal of his papers.
It may be noted that the PMLQ is already facing a strong forward block within its ranks and it MPA Ata Manika is leading a forward block of 32 MPAs. This forward block has extended its support to the PML-N in the ongoing confrontation between the PPP and the PML-N after February 25 disqualification from the Supreme Court. However, three of its members parted ways from the forward block and rejoined the PML-Q on Friday through a press conference.
