World Economic Forum, held annually at Davos in Switzerland, brings together large number of leading businessmen, economists as well as heads of states and Government for three to five days. So gathered at one place from all over the world, they avail the opportunity so provided to deliberate by and large global economy as well as related issues and problems and how these can be addressed and tackled to avert impending losses which otherwise may occur to countries in different parts of the globe.
Pakistan has also been quite actively and effectively participating in the WEF deliberations at Davos for many years at the top most level. Though it is rather too early to deliberate on what Pakistan had gained out of the Forum participation in the wake of global economic crunch and its adverse effects on this country but still one can generally discuss the plus and minus points in terms of the outcome of the WEF five days long deliberations insofar as Pakistan is concerned.
This is so because Pakistan was the center of focus, attention and concerns of most of the participants for its being hit by the effects of global economic problems, being victim of terrorism and extremism for the last few years and being under pressure by the neighbouring country, though quite unnecessarily, India in the wake of the last Novembers terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Pakistan has all along been following a policy of cordial relations with all countries in particular the neighbours and availed the World Economic Forum to enhance level of co-operation with the European Union, which is an economically strong entity of the several European countries, indeed.
Islamabads efforts for trying to resolve the issues confronting the region bilaterally and mutually through co-operation and understanding at the regional were of course noted by all and many delegates spoke highly about Pakistans positive and constructive thinking in this regard.
