British newspapers praised the English cricket team on Wednesday after they went down fighting in the fifth and final Test in Port of Spain. Though the West Indies eventually won the series 1-0, newspapers praised the England team for pushing the home team to the limit in the final match.
"Andrew Strauss (Englands captain) and his England team were left frustrated and empty-handed after an incredible late bid for victory," The Sun said in its match report. "England tried, how they tried, to winkle and blast out all 10 West Indies wickets and there were times when a sensational victory looked possible. "But, in the end, they had to be content with eight scalps, which meant the Fifth Test was drawn and the series lost 1-0."
